Artist David Jablow from Philadelphia recently got a retro doodle pad with a very evocative baseline of a lady. The artist chose to encourage himself to think beyond the box rather than draw a suggestive image and created a series of unbelievable drawings that show his creativity is endless.
The artist said he was painting his whole life in a recent interview with Bored Panda, and one of his favourite works was painting and illustration of his work. Half-drawn pin-ups inspire you …I just imagine what you are going to do and then see how the world around you can be formed. For the last 10 years, he has been working on his retro doodle series. Every drawing is a different challenge, yet familiar.
Some tips that he gave for beginner
Don’t try and combine two styles or styles from different mediums. If you do, the person who is looking at it may not be able to tell. You can’t draw and stand still, even if you are a professional sketch artist. Look at how you move to the sketch in front of you, and ask yourself if that motion adds value to the image.
Even if you are trying to master a new technique, stick to doing the same thing over and over again until you have mastered it. You won’t look like a beginner. If you are working on a complex sketch that you are working hard on, you don’t want to move from one person to another in the same pose.
