Have you ever seen a one-eyed dog? The chances are the answer is no. On February 6 a one-eyed dog was born in the Philippines in the Alkan region. The puppy could not live more than a day.
Apart from one eye he also lacked a nose, hence he was also not able to drink milk from his mother. A resident named Amie de Martin claimed that they gave him dog food and got him to the vet in the hopes of saving his life. They named the dog ‘Cyclops’, as the one-eyed giants in Greek mythology.
The dog was born with two bulging enormous tongues and no nose. He could not make it until the next day and died at about 10 p.m the same night. Because of the absent nose, he was having a hard time breathing.
According to a veterinarian for the bereaved pet owner, the mother of the puppy may have eaten something toxic while pregnant. This may be the cause of ‘Cyclops’s illnesses
The reason behind the puppy’s condition can also be because the mother was a menopausal puppy.
The local people that found ‘Cyclops later said that they had to use a dropper and powdered milk to feed him. Instead of burning him in the park. Amie decided to put him in a preserved glass jar to remember the special dog.
The puppy was believed to have a rare condition called Cyclopia. Cyclopia is a birth defect and not very uncommon to see in animals. The most obvious symptom of cyclopia is a single eye or a partially divided eye. A baby with cyclopia usually has no nose, but a nose-like growth sometimes develops above the eye while the baby is in gestation.
